Day 25

Quoting wikipedia, Failure refers to the state or condition of not meeting a desirable or intended objective, and may be viewed as the opposite of success.

The criteria for failure are heavily dependent on context of use, and may be relative to a particular observer or belief system. A situation considered to be a failure by one might be considered a success by another, particularly in cases of direct competition or a zero-sum game. Similarly, the degree of success or failure in a situation may be differently viewed by distinct observers or participants, such that a situation that one considers to be a failure, another might consider to be a success, a qualified success or a neutral situation.

Yeah, one man’s poison, can be another man’s food. What brings about this? Ok, picture this:- In an university setting, two different people, of same course, one studies very hard, and the other studies in a minimal way. At the end of the day, result comes out, the studious one has 4.52 as current gp and the other 2.5 as gp. Both of them are happy that they passed. The 1st person is looking down on the second person as a failure, and the less studious one is telling himself that he passed. Afterall, he had no carry-over. Now, who among them is right? And who is wrong? Will you say the other guy was a failure?

Back to the above definition, i will say failure is a self-belief. Nobody can tell you are a failure unless you choose to tell yourself that. And, that you failed in one attempt, doesn’t mean you should give up cos, most definitely, you are not the first person to have failed before. Moreover, winners are not quitters.

Man wouldn’t have landed on the moon if we had given up due to failure of successive lunar missions before we eventually landed on the moon. Never limit yourself to something. Believe that you can do it, and, with God by your side, you shall do it. Do not let anyone tell you that the sky is the limit, afterall, there are human footsteps on the moon.

Explore and practicalize with un-ending imagination, the world impossible is just a word, failure in something should gear you up to conquer and succeed in that thing. And, in whatever we do, give your possible maximum best. In the scenario i gave above, both succeeded. None is a failure after all, their results was a reflection of their inputs. But, one of them could have succeeded the more. The only thing stopping him, was himself and his limiting potentials.

LilWayne said “Nobody will give you a chance, you just have to take chance“. If you reflect on that, you would see the reality of it. In this world, nobody will give you all the basic ingredients for you to succeed. It’s left for you to know what you want and how to get it.
Ask Aliko Dangote, he started with a loan from his uncle. At the time of collecting the loan, he said his uncle was doubting him. Now, he is Africa richest man. Now, where are the doubting Thomas(es)? Huh? No where to be found.

In the same vein, people will look upon you as a failure if you allow them to. And even without allowing them, nobody will reckon with a loser, except fellow losers. It’s left to you to raise your head high after every failure and prove them wrong that indeed, you are a success. After all, nobody ever made it to the top without some toppling down(s) on the way.

NB:- I just checked my result, twas fair, I saw some woeful results on the board and that prompted me to write this. I hope i was able to convey the message. Do comment if you read this. Thanks…
